Persian Nain (561_88276)
HANDMADE RUG - Nain rugs are often made in the areas surrounding the Nain town, not necessarily the town itself. Nain is a small town in the centre of Persia, very close to the famous city of Esfahan. Nain utilize the Shah Abbas design and make use of flowing design such as flowers and tendrils.Nain rugs are constructed using the Persian knot and can be between 300 and 700 knots per inch. The pile is usually very high quality wool, clipped short and silk is most usually used as highlighting for parts of the detailing in the design. Some pieces are made entirely of silk. Nowadays Nain itself only produces very fine 4 or 6 La quality. Nain rugs that were once made for the Emperor of Persia can turn any home into a palace. These hand knotted carpets are most often made by wool, but can also be found in silk and cotton. Bring a soft kiss of the old Eastern empire to your home; Nain rugs are easy to identify and will add royal elegance to any home. FREE DELIVERY ON THIS RUG within UK mainland

Ziegler Runner (3877)
HANDMADE RUG - Ziegler is the name of a design rather than an actual city or tribe. Ziegler design rugs are sometimes known as Chobi rugs or Peshawar rugs. A German company based in Manchester (England), Ziegler and Co. commissioned the development of the original Ziegler rugs back in 1883. Using leading designers and master weavers from Iran and Europe, Ziegler and Co. managed to create a design using softer palettes than those typically found in Persia. Ziegler rugs were designed with the western market in mind and fit perfectly into almost any home. Based on a softer version of the Sultanabad design their muted colours using vegetable dyes and simple, yet striking pattern fit well with modern neutral colour schemes and both contemporary or traditional furniture. The weaving of Zeigler rugs began in the Arak provence, however, they are now made all over the Persian region. Zeiglers have re-introduced vegetable dyes back into Persian & Oriental weaving after the popular use of chemical dyes since the start of the 20th century. Although their knot count is not generally high (around 80-120 KPSI), the hand-spun Ghazni or Himalayan wool used is of high quality and the structure very durable. Ziegler rugs are possibly the most popular and sought after handmade rugs in the UK due to their gentle tones and softer patterns - there are not many rooms that would not be improved by a Ziegler rug. Persian Baluch (332432)
HANDMADE RUG - Baluch rugs are tribal hand-woven rugs made in the southern part of Persia by nomadic Baluch tribes. The majority of Baluch rugs are woven in the province Sistan-Baluchistan, which sits on the extreme Southeast boundaries of Persia. Colours of Baluch rugs are usually predominantly a rich burgundy with some very dark navy blue and accents of ivory. They frequently have either an overall pattern, or a prayer rug design. Any Baluch Persian rug is one of a kind and has absolutely no duplicates anywhere in the world. Being of tribal and often nomadic origin the Baluch rugs are generally small in size, typically limited to a length of 8 ft. Often using wool pile and foundation the rugs are resilient, however due to the materials used and the circumstances of the weavers the knot count is generally low with about 60-180 knots per square inch (KPSI).The people of Baluchistan are descendants of Turkmen weavers and they are amongst the poorest in the in Persia. Low wages and tribal lifestyles mean that Balouch rugs are some of the best value for money carpets from Persia. FREE DELIVERY ON THIS RUG within UK mainland.

Persian Gabeh Qashquai (243360)
HANDMADE RUG - The Qashqai are a tribal confederation, who shares similar dialects and heritage. The Qashqai are primarily descendants of the Turkmen and Ersari tribes, many are pastoral nomads who roam depending on the season moving from the Isfahan province to south of Shiraz, persia. The Qashqai weave several types of rugs. A characteristic product can be recognized by its all-wool construction, heavy ribbing on the reverse, strong deep colours (particularly the red), and the use of traditional motifs such as the 'Hashing' or crab. Typically, the designs are geometrical with a row of three of five medallions down the middle of the rug, or in the centre and corners. The whole field is generally covered with small geometric motifs. The Qashqai rugs average 70 to 170 knots per square inch. Traditional Qashqai rugs have all wool construction including wool wefts and warps. The Qashqai are famous also for their artefacts: horse blankets, saddlebags, ropes, etc. The products of other tribes, such as the Khamseh and Lori, are often confused with those of the Qashqai. Persian Tabriz (304295)
HANDMADE RUG - Tabriz is the capital of the province of Eastern Azerbaijan. Like Mashad on the eastern side of persia, its present apparent remoteness belies the fact that when the country was larger it had an important role. There are now a huge variety of carpets made in Tabriz, from extremely fine to very coarse pieces. The weavers have great skill, and are aided by a hook-like implement, which they use instead of the fingers for tying knots. The warps and wefts are cotton, the pile wool, often with highlights of silk that can be found in the finest pieces. The colours of the finer carpets are delicate and refined. What makes them so specail is not just the beauty of the motifs themselves but the consistency throughout their rugs. Tabriz feel almost regal to the touch. The central medalion here exudes a feel of eastern opulence, yet this rug will subtly lye with its mixture of delicate colours. Will satisfy those with a keen eye for traditional decor. A truly second to none piece. Handwoven with all natural dyes. This rug as with all our rugs are a class above what you will find anywhere online. We pride ourselves on providing a unique experience of owning an authentic piece of eastern culture. Free delivery on this rug within UK mainland.

Kazak (Red) (194306)
HANDMADE RUG - Kazak rugs are a type of Armenian rug that were woven in the south of Caucasus, between Tiflis and Erevan. The older Caucasian carpets are made with hand spun yarns of wool as well as the warp, weft and pile. The natural colours are both clear and strong. Good wool quality and Turkish knots make the carpets durable and they have a good reputation. In newer carpets, made after 1925, the warp is of cotton, with synthetic colours that are bleached and fewer and simplified patterns are used. The carpets are fairly durable All Caucasian carpets are made with a Turkish or Giordes knot "Kazak" carpets are not from Kazakhstan but are from an area in what is now Armenia.
