Kilim rugs

Kilims rugs are made by firmly intertwining the twist and weft strands of the weave to create a level surface with no heap or pile. Kilim weaves are embroidered artwork weaves, actually weft-confronted plain weaves, that is, the level weft strands are pulled firmly descending with the goal that they conceal the vertical twists.

Persian Shiraz Kilim (20zy7702)
HANDMADE RUG - A Shiraz Rug is a type of Persian rug made in the villages around the city of Shiraz, a city in the south west region of Persia, sited practically upon the old Persian Persepolis. The designs tend to come from settled tribal weavers so they mimic Qashqai, Khamseh, Afshar, Abadeh and Luri designs. Since the weavers are using fixed looms the rugs tend to be larger and often coarser than their tribal counterparts. Shiraz utilizes the Persian (asymmetrical) knot. The average knot count is around 120 KPSI. Shiraz rugs are not usually made in a large factory, with the majority of them being woven by home weavers and are woven on a cotton or wool foundation with a woollen pile. These nomadic rugs are almost always geometrical in style. Patterns tend to be small medallions or geometric figures scattered across the rugs. Strong reds and brown are the most typical colour of Shiraz rugs, they are extremely hard wearing and compliment wooden floors well. FREE DELIVERY ON THIS RUG within UK mainland.

HANDMADE RUG - The Qashqai are a tribal confederation, who shares similar dialects and heritage. The Qashqai are primarily descendants of the Turkmen and Ersari tribes, many are pastoral nomads who roam depending on the season moving from the Isfahan province to south of Shiraz, persia. The Qashqai weave several types of rugs. A characteristic product can be recognized by its all-wool construction, heavy ribbing on the reverse, strong deep colours (particularly the red), and the use of traditional motifs such as the 'Hashing' or crab. Typically, the designs are geometrical with a row of three of five medallions down the middle of the rug, or in the centre and corners. The whole field is generally covered with small geometric motifs. The Qashqai rugs average 70 to 170 knots per square inch. Traditional Qashqai rugs have all wool construction including wool wefts and warps. The Qashqai are famous also for their artefacts: horse blankets, saddlebags, ropes, etc. The products of other tribes, such as the Khamseh and Lori, are often confused with those of the Qashqai. At the point when the finish of a shading limit is achieved, the weft yarn is twisted over from the limit point. Accordingly, if the limit of a field is a straight vertical line, a vertical cut structures between the two distinctive shading territories where they meet. Thus, most kilim rugs can be classed as "cut woven" materials. The cuts are adored by authorities, as they create sharp-carved structures, underlining the geometry of the weave. Weaving procedures for maintaining a strategic distance from cut development, for example, interlocking, create a progressively obscured plan image.

The weft strands, which convey the noticeable plan and shading, are quite often fleece, while the shrouded twist strands can be either fleece or cotton. The twist strands are just noticeable at the closures, where they develop as the periphery. This periphery is typically tied in groups, to guarantee against slackening or disentangling of the weave strands.
