Kilim rugs

Kilims rugs are made by firmly intertwining the twist and weft strands of the weave to create a level surface with no heap or pile. Kilim weaves are embroidered artwork weaves, actually weft-confronted plain weaves, that is, the level weft strands are pulled firmly descending with the goal that they conceal the vertical twists.

Baluch Kilim (20k6300)
HANDMADE RUG - Baluch rugs are tribal hand-woven rugs made in the southern part of Persia by nomadic Baluch tribes. The majority of Baluch rugs are woven in the province Sistan-Baluchistan, which sits on the extreme Southeast boundaries of Persia. Colours of Baluch rugs are usually predominantly a rich burgundy with some very dark navy blue and accents of ivory. They frequently have either an overall pattern, or a prayer rug design. Any Baluch Persian rug is one of a kind and has absolutely no duplicates anywhere in the world. Being of tribal and often nomadic origin the Baluch rugs are generally small in size, typically limited to a length of 8 ft. Often using wool pile and foundation the rugs are resilient, however due to the materials used and the circumstances of the weavers the knot count is generally low with about 60-180 knots per square inch (KPSI).The people of Baluchistan are descendants of Turkmen weavers and they are amongst the poorest in the in Persia. Low wages and tribal lifestyles mean that Balouch rugs are some of the best value for money carpets from Persia. FREE DELIVERY ON THIS RUG within UK mainland.

Persian Shiraz Qashquai Kilim (32mm461)
HANDMADE RUG - The Qashquai weave several types of rugs. A characteristic product can be recognized by its all-wool construction, heavy ribbing on the reverse, strong deep colours (particularly the red), and the use of traditional motifs such as the 'Hashing' or crab. Typically, the designs are geometrical with a row of three of five medallions down the middle of the rug, or in the centre and corners. The whole field is generally covered with small geometric motifs. Qashqai rugs average 70 to 170 knots per square inch. Though all traditional examples of Qashqai rugs have all wool construction including wool wefts and warps, newer village pieces may have cotton wefts and are generally more coarsely woven. The Qashquai are famous also for their artefacts: horse blankets, saddlebags, ropes, etc. The products of other tribes, such as the Khamseh and Lori, are often confused with those of the Qashquai.

HANDMADE RUG - A Shiraz Rug is a type of Persian rug made in the villages around the city of Shiraz, a city in the south west region of Persia, sited practically upon the old Persian Persepolis. The designs tend to come from settled tribal weavers so they mimic Qashqai, Khamseh, Afshar, Abadeh and Luri designs. Since the weavers are using fixed looms the rugs tend to be larger and often coarser than their tribal counterparts. Shiraz utilizes the Persian (asymmetrical) knot. The average knot count is around 120 KPSI. Shiraz rugs are not usually made in a large factory, with the majority of them being woven by home weavers and are woven on a cotton or wool foundation with a woollen pile. These nomadic rugs are almost always geometrical in style. Patterns tend to be small medallions or geometric figures scattered across the rugs. Strong reds and brown are the most typical colour of Shiraz rugs, they are extremely hard wearing and compliment wooden floors well. FREE DELIVERY ON THIS RUG within UK mainland.

Qashquai Kilim Sumak (200702)
HANDMADE RUG - Sumak is a comparatively rare type of Kilim, deriving its name from the old town of SHEMAKJA. Sumak is NOT a Kilim. However, both have flat-woven style. Sumak has embroidered and its embroidery threads are not cut off at the back. Sumak has a shaggy, erratic collection of loose ends or strands of wool. The wefts strands (serving a decorative role rather than the structural role of knotted carpets) are threaded through a number of warp strands and then looped back. All Sumak have geometric pattern with many tribal motifs all around. Usually the motifs are small birds. Sumak are excellent with contemporary, traditional and modern decors.

At the point when the finish of a shading limit is achieved, the weft yarn is twisted over from the limit point. Accordingly, if the limit of a field is a straight vertical line, a vertical cut structures between the two distinctive shading territories where they meet. Thus, most kilim rugs can be classed as "cut woven" materials. The cuts are adored by authorities, as they create sharp-carved structures, underlining the geometry of the weave. Weaving procedures for maintaining a strategic distance from cut development, for example, interlocking, create a progressively obscured plan image.

The weft strands, which convey the noticeable plan and shading, are quite often fleece, while the shrouded twist strands can be either fleece or cotton. The twist strands are just noticeable at the closures, where they develop as the periphery. This periphery is typically tied in groups, to guarantee against slackening or disentangling of the weave strands.
